Unilluminated Water

It ends with light
the moment it expires, the world is clear and coherent
At that point, all has become what it has become
The circumstances may have been favorable or unfavorable;
the same way animals do as they do, one has done what one has done
It began in darkness, dark water
closing high above
When the darkness receded, years were spent filling the emptiness it left behind. Someone got old, so very old, and came to know that the sadness that comes with the leaving of one lover will be replaced by the sadness of the leaving of the next one. And so on and so on
Heaven is the air above the waistline, everything below is murky, unknowable
